The idea
Soft information revealed on enhanced CRBs is totally unjustified and against human rights. If a person has not been charged or convicted it should not be there. Ian Huntley worked in a different school to his victims and knew them through his partner who worked at their school-Maxine Carr. A tragic consequence of this "soft information" is that people can easily wreck the career of a professional person by making any accusation to the police. The police have a duty to investigate and often a crucial part of this process is to arrest and interview the person. If the person is not charged or found innocent by the court this is still on the "other relevant information" part of their CRBs. It is making criminals of innocent people. Thousands of people have been sacked and have been refused employment because of this non-conviction information. The saying "innocent until proven guilty" does not now apply. On an enhanced CRB any allegation and arrest carries the same weight as a conviction.
Why is it important?
My idea is important because alot of people are affected by this "soft information". For e.g, I know of a case where a person has not been able to get a job because someone made an allegation to crimestoppers and this appears on their CRB. Also I know of another case where both husband and wife cannot get a job because they had an argument and the police arrested both of them. They were not charged but both are finding it difficult to get a job because this appears as soft information on their CRB.
