The idea
Introduce the complete legalisation of cannabis, but with a regulatory system to control its sale in a similiar way to how alcohol is regulated.
Why is it important?
- Criminals are being made of ordinary people for consuming this drug (it doesn't harm anybody else in consuming it, etc.)
- Users of cannabis (although the evidence only seems to be qualitative and anecdotal) are generally not violent (which can be contrasted with alcohol)
- Although there is debate over its health impacts, the implications to a persons physical health are low, and the mental are seemingly correlational
- On a level of principal, it's fundamentally wrong for the state to be entitled to dictate whether or not someone can consume a substance such as cannabis where the effect on others is non-existent
