The idea
All existing terrorist laws should be ammended to make their use for any purpose not directly related to terrorism a criminal offence. And future ones should contain this provision.
Why is it important?
If we must have terrorism laws we must ensure that terrorism is not used as an entering wedge to attack civil liberties generally.
Terrorism laws seem to have been used more frequently for purposes not relating to terrorism than in actual terrorism cases.
Vague promises not to misuse such draconian power are rissable, especially considering their history.
Officials that abuse these powers should go to prisson. Nothing less than that will give our liberties any protection.
