The big idea
Between 1980 and 1993 the Thatcher and Major Governments passed laws which are being used make legal industrial action almost impossible. The Employment Acts 1980, 1982, 1988, 1989, 1990, the Trade Union Act 1984, The Trade Union & Labour Relations Act (Consolidation) Act 1992 and the Trade Union Reform and Employment Rights Act 1993 have been used to undermine the fundamental civil right to strike.
- All these laws should be repealed immediately. The Labour Government had promised to do just that before it was elected in 1997. Without these laws the bosses could not keep getting court injunctions making strikes illegal. The trade union movement could then fight back more effectively against the cuts in public services, pensions, pay, welfare benefits etc. Our working conditions and living standards would be a lot worse if the trade unions hadn't fought for them over the years. The anti-trade union laws are one of the main reasons why we work longer, are taxed more, have lower pay and pensions than most of the rest of Europe. The will rich get richer and the poor will get poorer unless the trade unions step up strike action. http://www.unitedcampaign.org.uk
Why does this matter?
This condem government is making the majority of the population pay for a financial crisis we didn't cause. The greedy, gambling bankers caused the problem but are still on their huge salaries and bonuses. We should be able to lawfully organise;
- solidarity (secondary) action to defend our public services
- immediate strike action through hand votes at mass meetings to defend victimised trade union reps
- political strikes against government policy such a VAT increases and not be bound by the definition of 'trade dispute'
- occupations to keep open factories, offices, schools and hospitals threatened with closure
- pickets of more than 6 people
We are told that we have to pay for the bank bail out. But it is estimated that each year £123 Billion is lost through tax avoidance and evasion by the multi-nationals and the very wealthy. The 55 Billionaires in this country only pay 0.1% of their income in tax. There is no need for any public spending cuts. The money is there. Mass co-ordinated strike action across this country and across Europe could transform current situation. Even if the anti-trade union laws are not repealed, mass strike action can break them. It is time we stood up to the Eton Toffs and fought back.
The only way we are going to get any change or justice in this country,is by the bullet and the bomb.
Maybe if you had all tried harder at school you too could have been a banker/trader/Eton toff, Millons of deaths and The events of 1989 prove that Communism failed and capitalism is the only way society can prosper.
